16 source-linked starting points

HSN & SAC code finder for classification review

Find a goods heading or a service-code starting point, read what still needs checking, then compare it with official resources. A familiar product name is the start of the review.

By Invoodle · Updated · Guidance reviewed October 2026

This is a limited reference, not a complete tariff, code validator or GST-rate database. Goods results are four-digit headings. Service results are selected six-digit codes. Matching a word or prefix does not establish the classification, required digits, rate or invoice compliance.

Use up to 120 characters. All search words must match an entry. Typing filters this page without updating the URL; copying a search link includes your query and filter.

16 starting points in this 16-entry reference. No rate determination.

Build a classification check from the actual supply

For goods, gather material, function, composition and specifications. Compare the full tariff text, section and chapter notes, exclusions and applicable interpretive rules. A short description here is not the full legal heading. A keyword match does not settle a choice between headings.

For services, read the scope promised in the contract. IT advice, solution development and hosting have different starting points in the service annexure. A photographer covering an event should compare the event entry with other photography services rather than selecting a generic residual code by habit.

A longer search can still show only a heading

The goods entries here stop at four digits. If you search 84713010, the result may show the broader 8471 heading; it does not confirm that full number or your product. Keep leading zeros such as 0401. Use the official master and detailed tariff for the level required in your case.

Classification, rate and reporting are separate checks

Check current rate notifications and their conditions for the precise supply and date after reviewing classification. The historical CBIC goods page is linked to identify heading references; its rates are not reproduced as current rates here. A code alone does not establish exemption, cess, reverse charge, place of supply or input-tax-credit eligibility.

Invoice digit requirements and return validation also need their own review. The Ministry of Finance’s March 2021 explanation distinguishes preceding-year turnover and B2B invoice context. GSTN’s January 2025 Table 12 advisory illustrates separate master-list and reporting checks. Read current notifications and portal guidance rather than assuming one digit rule covers every invoice, return or customs document.

Do not split a contract purely to fit search results

For an engagement containing several deliverables, review the actual supplies and any composite or mixed-supply rules. Separate prices or different service labels are not a complete legal test. This tool neither classifies the bundle nor tells you to split an invoice into particular tax treatments.

Check what the invoice editor supports

Invoodle has no dedicated HSN/SAC, buyer GSTIN, place-of-supply or reverse-charge controls. Its PDF uses one general Tax total; one percentage applies to subtotal before the separate order discount. A code in an item description does not establish the required structured particulars, correct rate or filing. Review the linked GST guide and field limits before issue.

HSN and SAC finder questions

What does this HSN and SAC finder search?

A limited local list of goods headings and service-code starting points. Search by a code, category or related words, then check the full official description and current requirements. It is not a complete tariff or a classification ruling.

Why are there no GST rates beside the codes?

A heading or keyword alone does not establish a rate. Check the precise supply, classification, date and applicable notification conditions separately. This finder does not maintain a current legal rate database.

Is a four-digit HSN heading a complete product code?

Not necessarily. Goods headings, subheadings and tariff items have different levels of detail. This list shows four-digit goods headings only. A longer-number search can show a broader heading without verifying the complete number.

How many digits should appear on my invoice or return?

Check the current notification and reporting requirements for your case. Preceding-financial-year turnover, transaction and document/reporting context can matter. A longer number is not automatically a valid or correct classification.

Should a website project always be split into development and hosting codes?

No. Examine the actual supplies and contract, including any composite or mixed-supply rules. Different labels or prices do not by themselves settle the treatment; this finder does not decide it.

Does no match mean a code is invalid?

No. This list has limited coverage. Use the official GST search and tariff/service references when a result is missing; absence here is not a validation decision.

Will choosing a result add a code to my invoice?

No. Results and copied review notes do not change a draft. The editor lacks dedicated HSN/SAC and buyer GSTIN controls and exports one general Tax total. A code typed into a description does not establish a complete GST invoice or correct reporting.
