GST invoice generator for India

Before downloading an invoice, check that it can show the tax details your transaction requires. Use the field comparison below to prepare the information, review a calculation and decide whether the current editor fits your billing needs.

The editor provides INR, a supplier GST-number input and one general Tax adjustment. It does not provide dedicated HSN/SAC, buyer GSTIN, place-of-supply or separate CGST/SGST/IGST fields, generate an IRN or file GST returns. Check the support table before using its PDF as a tax invoice.

GST invoice details: what to prepare and what is supported

Rule 46 is the ordinary tax-invoice starting point, with special cases, exceptions and amendments. Required details vary by supply and recipient. This comparison helps identify gaps; it does not certify a complete GST invoice or make every listed field mandatory for every sale.

Supplier identity and GSTINCheck the supplier’s legal particulars and registration.Business name/address and a supplier GST-number input are available in India mode. The app does not validate the number or registration.
Recipient and place of supplyReview buyer GSTIN/UIN, addresses and place-of-supply particulars where required.Customer name/address are available. Dedicated buyer GSTIN/UIN and place-of-supply controls are absent.
HSN/SAC and line detailsDetermine classification, applicable code detail, description and goods quantity/unit.Description, quantity, unit and price are available. There is no dedicated HSN/SAC field or HSN/SAC library metadata.
Taxable base and tax headsCheck adjustments, rate, CGST/SGST/UTGST/IGST and cess as applicable. One document-level percentage or fixed adjustment produces a general Tax total. There are no per-line rates or separate tax-component exports.
Reference and datesReview financial-year numbering, issue timing and required supply particulars.Invoice reference, issue date and payment due date are available. The suggested counter is browser-local and calendar-year based; it does not maintain a statutory financial-year register.
Reverse charge and special documentsCheck the applicable invoice, bill-of-supply, voucher or credit/debit-note requirements. There is no dedicated reverse-charge control, statutory bill-of-supply or GST credit-note mode. A note or zero tax setting does not establish the required document.
IRP reporting and returnsCheck current applicability, exemptions and any reporting window separately. No IRN, IRP-signed QR, structured IRP submission or GST return filing is generated. An ordinary PDF is not an IRP-registered e-invoice.

An unregistered person must not collect GST as though registered. Registered taxable supplies, composition cases and exempt supplies can require different documents. Turning Tax off does not create a prescribed bill of supply. Review registration and document requirements before preparing the bill.

A GST invoice preparation workflow

  1. Confirm the document and registration

Review the actual supply, registration category and required tax document. Check current rules and notifications; one turnover figure or an app setting does not establish eligibility.

  2. Prepare the particulars and tax treatment

Collect the correct supplier and recipient details, classification, supply location, taxable base and applicable tax heads. Use a workflow that can represent the required information.

  3. Check the arithmetic and presentation separately

A correct total does not prove that the tax heads, required wording or invoice layout are correct. Compare the PDF against the required particulars, not just the grand total.

  4. Complete required reporting and preserve records

Use the applicable reporting route where required, retain the issued version and correction trail, and submit through the client’s agreed channel. The payment due date is separate from issue or reporting deadlines.

If the required fields or breakdown are unsupported, use a suitable GST workflow before issue. The editor can prepare ordinary invoice details and a PDF; a Corporate layout changes presentation, not tax compliance.

Check the HSN/SAC lookup and GST arithmetic calculator as review aids. A code result or preset is not a current classification, rate or tax-head decision.

Check GST arithmetic separately from the tax breakdown

This fictional INR example is also used in the India country guide. It assumes a ₹10,000 base correctly attracts a combined 18% tax, with no discount, shipping or cess. It does not decide classification, registration, place of supply or tax heads. Real GSTINs, addresses and contacts are omitted.

Reference INV-2026-0047 · Issue date 18 October 2026 · Agreed payment date 1 November 2026. This is a read-only calculation, not a complete GST tax invoice or an IRP document.

Read-only combined-tax calculation using the shared invoice engine
ComponentCalculation or recordAmount (INR)
Package A1 × ₹6,000₹6000.00
Package B1 × ₹4,000₹4000.00
SubtotalSum of the two lines₹10000.00
Assumed combined tax₹10,000 × 18%₹1800.00
Invoice totalSubtotal plus assumed tax₹11800.00
Subsequently receivedManual record in this fictional example₹2000.00
Remaining balanceTotal less received amount₹9800.00

The subsequent ₹2000.00 payment leaves ₹9800.00 due. It reduces the balance, not the tax base. This does not illustrate advance-payment tax timing, read a saved draft or verify a transfer. An equal grand total does not make one general Tax line equivalent to separate statutory tax components.

The editor applies its tax percentage to item subtotal before the separate order discount. It does not recalculate the legal taxable base for discounts, mixed rates or special valuation.

Review numbering, records and sharing before issue

Keep an issued-document register and the appropriate correction trail. Check references across devices; the suggested calendar-year counter does not maintain a business-wide financial-year series. Do not silently overwrite an issued tax document or treat a PDF folder as complete GST bookkeeping.

Guest drafts and saved records stay in this browser without automatic device sync. Export backups in Saved Documents. Sharing and optional account/API features have separate data handling; see the storage and sharing explanation.

A payment or sharing QR is not an IRP-signed e-invoice QR. The app does not validate an IRN, submit a PDF to the IRP, file GST returns, verify bank receipts or send reminders automatically. Complete the required reporting in a compatible workflow and retain its acknowledgements where applicable.

Explore a state page

Review the actual supply and current rules. A state name or customer address does not automatically determine the tax heads.

For ordinary billing preparation, use the India INR invoice page. It includes a separate ordinary-bill example and the same editor limits.
