Free invoice generator for India

Turn agreed work into a clear INR invoice: describe the items, set a payment date and show any amount already received. Preview the bill and download a PDF without signing up.

By Invoodle · Updated

India mode selects INR and provides a supplier GST-number input. The editor has no dedicated HSN/SAC, buyer GSTIN, place-of-supply or separate CGST/SGST/IGST fields. It does not create an IRN or file GST returns. Review the required GST workflow before issuing a tax invoice.

A practical bill for work the client recognises

Start with INR

Enter recognisable items or work, quantities, rates and an agreed due date. Check the currency before entering amounts.

Keep the balance clear

Review the subtotal and adjustments, then record actual receipts separately. A part payment reduces what remains due.

How to prepare an invoice in INR

  1. Open invoice mode and check the currency. This page selects India and INR. A display-currency change does not convert your prices.
  2. Add the work and client details. Use specific descriptions and agreed quantities or hours. Check the billing entity, reference and dates.
  3. Review tax and money received. Determine the required document and treatment before adding tax. Record actual receipts separately from discounts.
  4. Preview, download and submit. Check the PDF, keep the issued copy and send it through the client’s agreed channel. The app does not send invoices or reminders automatically.

A useful billing checklist

  • Your business identity and contact details, plus the correct customer entity and billing address.
  • An invoice reference checked against your own register, an issue date and the relevant work or delivery period.
  • Specific items or services, quantities or hours, agreed rates and line amounts.
  • The agreed currency, applicable adjustments and tax, the invoice total and any actual payment received.
  • A calendar due date, payment instructions and any purchase-order or approval reference the client needs.

This is a practical checklist, not a complete GST document specification. The suggested invoice counter is local to this browser and uses a calendar year; check your own financial-year register and other devices before issue.

INR invoice example: website updates and handover

This fictional bill assumes an unregistered supplier whose circumstances permit ordinary billing without collecting GST. It does not decide registration eligibility. There is no tax, discount or shipping in the illustration; it is not a GST tax invoice or a prescribed bill of supply.

Reference INV-2026-0048 · Issue date 18 October 2026 · Agreed due date 1 November 2026. Real contact, address, tax-identifier and payment details are omitted.

Registration, supply type and the stage of the sale affect the document required. Check applicable notifications and exceptions; the table is a preparation aid, not a list of documents this editor can fully export.

Billing situations and current editor limits
SituationDocument to reviewPreparation and support limits
Ordinary billing by an unregistered supplierA regular invoice or bill, after checking registration dutiesPrepare the agreed work and amounts without collecting GST. This does not determine whether registration is required.
Registered supplier making a taxable supplyThe applicable GST tax invoiceReview required particulars, tax heads, classification and any IRP duties. The current editor does not provide a complete structured GST workflow.
Registered composition or exempt-supply caseGenerally a prescribed bill of supplyCheck the applicable rules and particulars. The editor has no dedicated bill-of-supply export mode.
Price approval before work startsQuote or pricing proposalUse Quote mode for scope and pricing. Dedicated proforma export is not available; approval does not prove payment or determine tax timing.

Under section 32 of the CGST Act, an unregistered person must not collect GST as though registered. Registered taxable supplies and composition or exempt-supply cases have different document requirements. Review the GST invoice guide and the India country checklist for the detailed starting points and official references.

The editor has one document-level tax adjustment applied to subtotal before the separate order discount. It does not split tax heads, handle per-line GST rates, validate GSTINs, generate an IRN or file returns. Notes do not automatically make unsupported tax particulars complete.

Foreign-currency billing and payment details

Agree the currency, scope, payment route and responsibility for fees with an overseas client. A foreign address or currency setting alone does not establish export treatment. Review the applicable supply, export, conversion and settlement requirements before issue.

For INR invoices, a UPI QR can request the remaining balance. It does not confirm receipt or replace an IRP-signed QR. Verify changed payment instructions through a known contact and reconcile actual receipts before updating the bill.

Compare a currency conversion estimate using an indicative or entered rate. It is not a bank quote or a prescribed tax conversion.

Keep a copy and choose sharing deliberately

Guest drafts and saved documents stay in this browser without automatic device sync. Download issued PDFs and export backups in Saved Documents; clearing browser data can remove local records.

A PDF or full share link contains the details you include. Sharing and optional account or developer features have separate data handling. Read the storage and sharing explanation before choosing a method. After recording another payment, share an updated snapshot.
