Free invoice templates you can customise online

Choose a starting style for your next invoice, add your business details and logo, then review the PDF before sending. Browse simple, colourful and compact layouts for product and service billing.

By Invoodle · Updated

Template actions select Invoice mode and the named style. Review any existing draft before editing. The thumbnails use fictional sample data, not your saved details. A style does not add tax fields or establish invoice compliance.

Choose a layout around the information your customer needs

Simple service billing

Compare Minimal, Classic and Consulting. Check long descriptions, work periods and the visibility of your payment instructions.

Products and longer item lists

Compare Retail and Compact Table. Enter your actual quantities and units, then inspect all pages of the PDF.

Brand presentation

Compare Modern, Corporate and Colorful. Upload your logo in Branding and check readability in the final export.

A style name describes presentation. It does not change the supported fields, calculate a different tax treatment or guarantee a particular PDF layout.

From template to a usable invoice PDF

  1. Select a style and confirm Invoice mode. Review your business identity, customer and any details retained from an existing draft.
  2. Set the agreed currency, reference and dates. Add specific products or services with quantities, units and rates; changing display currency does not convert prices.
  3. Review tax, discounts, delivery, actual payments and the remaining balance. Use only terms that fit the customer agreement and applicable requirements.
  4. Inspect the preview and downloaded PDF for identity details, references, long descriptions, totals and page breaks. Send it through your chosen channel and keep an independent copy.

These are online styles for PDF creation, not separate Word or Excel downloads. The cards use the live editor preview component with authored sample data, while PDF export follows its own shared layout. A thumbnail is not a final proof of your completed document.

Review wording when changing styles in the editor

Gallery links select the style only. Inside the editor, choosing a template can fill empty notes or terms from its preset. Review any inserted payment period, late fee or returns statement, and replace it with the terms appropriate to your transaction. A preset is not evidence that a customer agreed to those terms. Australia’s payment-terms guidance discusses terms in contracts and invoices; check the rules that apply to your business.

Template choice and tax requirements are separate checks

The general editor has one document-level Tax adjustment. A percentage uses the item subtotal before the separate order discount; there are no per-line tax rates or dedicated shipping-tax control. No style adds HSN/SAC, buyer GSTIN, place-of-supply or separate CGST/SGST/IGST controls. Review the GST field and PDF limits if those particulars are needed.

Required invoice details depend on the transaction and jurisdiction. For example, GOV.UK’s invoice guidance distinguishes supplier identity and VAT particulars. Start with the country invoice checklists rather than assuming a style name establishes compliance.

Use the right document mode

This gallery opens invoices. To propose a price before approval, use the Quote Generator. To acknowledge verified payment, review the receipt workflow. The shared engine supports those three modes; it has no dedicated Proforma, Estimate or Credit Note export. See the document-type guide before choosing a workflow.

Save a copy beyond this browser

Guest drafts and saved documents are browser-local. Storage can be cleared, full or unavailable on another device, so retain independent PDFs and backups. Optional account, API and sharing features have different data handling; signing in does not automatically sync guest documents. A PDF or full share link can disclose its included details. Read the storage and sharing explanation.

Invoice template questions

Are these downloadable Word or Excel invoice templates?

These are editable online invoice styles. Choose a style, enter your own details and download a PDF from the editor. This gallery does not offer separate Word or Excel template files.

Do I need an account to create and download an invoice?

No. Guest creation, browser-local saving and PDF download do not require signup. Each gallery action selects Invoice mode and its named style. Review the existing draft, currency, items and payment details before editing or issuing.

Will the downloaded PDF look exactly like the thumbnail?

The thumbnails are scaled screen previews using a fictional invoice. PDF export uses a shared document layout with a template accent colour; fonts, spacing, page breaks and some layout details can differ. Inspect the downloaded PDF rather than treating the thumbnail as an exact PDF proof.

Does choosing a template load the sample prices or customer?

No. The gallery links select a document mode and style; they do not import the fictional customer, prices, currency or sample terms. An existing draft can retain its details, so review it carefully before working on another transaction.

Does a GST or industry label add special tax fields?

No. All styles share the same general editor. It has one document-level Tax adjustment and no dedicated buyer GSTIN, HSN/SAC, place-of-supply or separate CGST/SGST/IGST controls. Choosing an industry style does not determine tax treatment or create a complete statutory invoice workflow.

Can I add my logo and change the currency?

Use Branding in the editor to upload a logo, then review the selected template and downloaded PDF. The display-currency override changes symbols and formatting, not entered prices. Agree the currency and amounts before issue and check any tax-currency requirements separately.

Are the sample terms and payment periods recommendations?

No. Use the terms agreed with your customer and check applicable requirements. Gallery links select the style only. Changing styles inside the editor can fill empty notes or terms from a preset, so inspect any inserted wording, payment period, fee or returns statement before issuing.

Can I use these styles for a quote or receipt?

The shared engine supports Quote, Invoice and Receipt modes, but this gallery deliberately opens Invoice mode. Use the quote or receipt guide for the right workflow. There is no dedicated Proforma, Estimate or Credit Note export mode; changing notes does not replace the document heading.
